Okanagan Lake search suspended for missing paddleboarder

The search for a missing man on Okanagan Lake has been suspended following an extensive operation. The incident began on Tuesday, Sept. 22, when RCMP were called to assist a man and a woman in distress on paddleboards between Fintry Provincial Park and Carr’s Landing.

A Kelowna Fire Boat successfully rescued the woman, but the man was not located at the scene. Subsequent search efforts involving Vernon and Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, as well as boat, helicopter, drone, and K9 crews, failed to find him. While his paddleboard was recovered, the man remains missing.

Investigators believe high winds may have knocked the man off his board. It is also noted that the pair were reportedly not wearing personal flotation devices or paddleboard leashes. Due to the large search area and significant water depth, the RCMP stated there have been no further updates since Friday.
