Okanagan Valley wineries announce new releases following frost recovery

Wineries in Canada’s Okanagan Valley are navigating recovery and new releases following a devastating winter freeze that impacted the 2024 grape crop.

Vasanti Estate Winery has announced four new releases following a strong 2025 vintage. The winery, which has decades of farming experience in the South Okanagan, utilized a long, warm growing season to produce its first Sauvignon Blanc. To manage yields and concentrate flavors, the vineyard team employed aggressive thinning and delayed fertilizer applications. Recent vineyard changes include replanting Syrah, expanding Cabernet Franc, and replacing damaged Merlot acreage with Riesling.

Haywire Winery, located in the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys, continues to produce lower-intervention wines. Recent tastings of their Garnet Valley Ranch offerings, including Chardonnay and Riesling, show high scores for precision and acidity. Despite the recent frost events in the valley, the vineyards at Garnet Valley Ranch remain established.
