Okayama City to host 31st Uraja festival in August
The 31st Uraja festival, part of the Okayama Momotaro Festival, is scheduled to take place on August 22 and 23, 2026, in central Okayama City. Based on the local Ura legend, the event features dancers in demon-inspired costumes and makeup performing at various venues, including Okayama Art Creation Theater Harenowa and Omotecho Shopping District.
The theme for this year is ‘Kagayaki’ (Brilliance). Scheduled activities include the Haremachi Parade and Omotecho Parade on August 22, and the Shiyakusuji Parade on August 23, culminating in a grand finale dance. Additionally, a Family Festa will be held at Sanyo Shimbun Santa Hiroba, featuring character shows and experience booths. On August 22, the ‘Uraja Shirouchi Night 2026’ will also be held at Okayama Castle.
Traffic restrictions will be implemented in central Okayama City during the festival periods to accommodate the parades and performances.
