Okayama University Kendo Club qualifies for national championships

The Okayama University Kendo Club has qualified both its men’s and women’s teams for the All Japan Student Kendo Championship. This achievement follows their performance at the 73rd Chugoku-Shikoku Student Kendo Championship and the 53rd Chugoku-Shikoku Women’s Student Kendo Championship held in Okayama City.

The men’s team secured third place, marking their first qualification for the national tournament in seven years. The women’s team placed in the top six, their first national appearance in 20 years. Individual honors were also awarded, with Sota Nakamura from the Faculty of Medicine and Koharu Okazaki from the Faculty of Agriculture being selected as outstanding players.

The upcoming national competitions are scheduled to take place in Osaka and Kasugai City, respectively, in late 2026.
