Oki & Nirmala film adaptation set for production

Paragon Pictures and Ideosource Entertainment have announced that the film adaptation of the legendary Indonesian fictional characters, Oki & Nirmala, is set to begin production in September 2026. Directed by Hanung Bramantyo, the project adapts the beloved characters from Bobo Magazine, which has been part of Indonesian childhoods since 1973.

The film features Tissa Biani as Nirmala and Azzamy Syauqi as Oki. Titi Kamal will portray the character Ratu Bidadari, a role she previously performed in a 2003 Bobo operet titled ‘Pika-Pika Puro’. Other cast members include Dea Panendra, Rey Bong, Anjasmara, Tanta Ginting, and Indra Birowo.

Director Hanung Bramantyo described the project as a family-friendly fantasy film. He noted that while the fantasy genre presents significant technical complexities, he aims to create a cinematic legacy that can be enjoyed by multiple generations while maintaining the essence of the original fairy tale stories.
