Okin Biscuits restarts production line after 17 years
Okin Biscuits has successfully restarted one of its production lines at its factory in Offa, Kwara State, following 17 years of inactivity. The company reported that the line was recently rehabilitated and underwent a technical trial run where biscuits were produced.
The factory had previously been idle for nearly two decades, during which time critical components including cables, motors, frequency drives, and electronic equipment were stolen. As a result, the company had to rebuild the production line from scratch.
In addition to the machinery repairs, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has reconnected the factory to a 33kV Band A electricity grid. While the trial run was successful, the company stated that further testing, calibration, and fine-tuning are required to ensure the color, appearance, and recipe meet quality standards before the products return to the market.
