Okinawa Confidential film starring Eiji Akaso and Taishi Nakagawa set for 2027
Actors Eiji Akaso and Taishi Nakagawa will star in the upcoming film ‘Okinawa Confidential’, scheduled for release on April 29, 2027. The production is a major project by Toei, featuring a detective buddy dynamic set against the backdrop of Okinawa.
Based on the police novels by Tetsuo Takashima, the story follows two contrasting detectives: the unconventional Yuta Soma, played by Akaso, and the intellectual, career-oriented Hironori Akahori, played by Nakagawa. The film was shot on location across Okinawa over a period of one month.
Directed by Hajime Hashimoto with a screenplay by Yosuke Masaike, the film aims to blend action and humor. To enhance the immersive experience, a fictional news website titled ‘Ryukyu Post’ has been launched to showcase events and characters from the film’s world.
