Okinawa International Cultural Festival set for April 2027

The Okinawa International Cultural Festival 2027, also known as ‘Shima Zenbu de Okinawa Matsuri,’ is scheduled to take place on April 24 and 25, 2027. The event will be held in various locations, including Kokusai Dori in Naha and Toyosaki Chura SUN Beach in Tomigusuku.

Building on the success of previous iterations, which saw approximately 100,000 visitors and an economic impact of roughly 3.5 billion yen, the 2027 festival aims to expand its programming. Key features will include the traditional red carpet event, film screenings, and a music festival titled ‘GIRLS GROOVE INNOVATION 2027.’

New initiatives for the 2027 edition include the ‘Shima Marugoto Theater,’ which will bring music, dance, and performances to various street locations to turn the city itself into a stage. Other planned activities include an AI conference, a short video contest featuring the 41 municipalities of Okinawa, talk shows, and community karaoke sessions.
