Okinawa Shogaku Secures Second Straight Title at National High School Baseball Championship

On July 20, 2026, Okinawa Shogaku High School won the Okinawa round of the 108th National High School Baseball Championship at Okinawa Cellular Stadium in Naha. The team beat Energetic Sports, which was making its third consecutive finals appearance but fell short of a Koshien tournament berth. After an early two‑run lead, Okinawa Shogaku tied the game in the third inning and took the lead with a two‑run double by Akira Akegi in the sixth. A further two‑run rally in the seventh, driven by two hits, two walks and a sacrifice, put the game out of reach. Pitcher Shigaki pitched the sixth inning, while Matsuzaki (末吉良丞) entered as the designated hitter and later took the mound in the ninth. In the semi‑final the same Matsuzaki delivered a six‑inning, scoreless performance, striking out eight batters on 87 pitches, helping the team advance to the final.

The victory marks Okinawa Shogaku’s second consecutive championship, reinforcing its status as a leading high‑school baseball program in Japan.
