Oklahoma Attorney General Sues Roblox Over Child‑Safety Failures

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond filed a 51‑page lawsuit in Cleveland County District Court alleging that the Roblox platform failed to protect children from predators and misled parents about safety measures. The complaint claims that minors as young as five can create accounts without parental knowledge, that adults can impersonate youths, and that the platform facilitated sexual exploitation of children. The suit asserts violations of the Oklahoma Consumer Protection Act and seeks civil penalties, a permanent injunction, and mandatory safety safeguards.

Roblox responded by saying the lawsuit misrepresents its operations, emphasizing its AI‑driven detection tools, human moderation, chat filters, and recent age‑verification requirements. The company announced expanded parental controls for users under 16 to launch in June and highlighted cooperation with law‑enforcement. Oklahoma’s action follows lawsuits in eight other states, with three states having settled with Roblox.
