Oklahoma City man charged with first-degree rape after series of assaults

Jeff Kofi Asare, a 26-year-old Ghanaian migrant, has been charged with first-degree rape following a series of alleged attacks against women in Oklahoma City during August. The arrest occurred after firefighters intervened during an attempted assault on a public trail.

Asare had previously been arrested three times within a two-week period for sexual battery and indecent exposure. Court records indicate a significant criminal history, with at least 19 felony and misdemeanor charges filed since August 2023 and more than 20 arrests dating back to 2022 for offenses including larceny, trespass, and injuring an officer.

The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s office is currently seeking to increase Asare’s $75,000 bond, citing the rapid succession of the alleged assaults.
