Oklahoma man attacks deputies with flamethrower during eviction
Bodycam footage released by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office shows a violent confrontation during an eviction attempt in Oklahoma City on August 11. Deputies attempting to serve an eviction notice at an apartment on South Harvey Avenue encountered 61-year-old Darron Dunn, who had barricaded himself inside.
As officers entered the darkened, cluttered residence, Dunn allegedly used an aerosol spray and a lighter to create a makeshift flamethrower, directing a burst of fire toward the deputies. Officers reported feeling extreme heat from the flames, which traveled approximately 15 feet.
In addition to the flamethrower, authorities discovered improvised explosive devices, including a device connected to a car battery and other wired aerosol containers. The building was evacuated so a bomb squad could safely disable the devices. Dunn was detained and transferred to a mental health facility following an initial stay at a Veterans Affairs hospital. He faces multiple charges, including assault, obstruction, and the use of explosives.
