Oklahoma City Thunder adds Spanish center Aday Mara to roster
The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed 7'3" Spanish (Aragonese) center Aday Mara, a former Michigan standout, after selecting him in the 2026 NBA Draft. Mara, who averaged 12.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game in his junior year, said he is ready to take on the challenge of defending against Victor Wembanyama and to contribute to the Thunder’s push after their recent Western Conference Finals loss.
Thunder coach Mark Daigneault expects Mara’s rim‑protection and versatility to bolster the team’s frontcourt as they aim to build on last season’s championship run. Mara expressed enthusiasm, stating, “I’m ready… I guess whatever the coach says, if I have to try to stop him, I have to try. I’m ready.”
