Oklahoma football celebrates victory and player recovery

The Oklahoma Sooners secured a 23-15 road victory against Mississippi State, highlighted by individual defensive honors and the recovery of offensive lineman Sean Hutton.

Linebacker Owen Heinecke was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week. During the game, Heinecke recorded 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble. His forced fumble at the Oklahoma 4-yard line prevented a Mississippi State scoring opportunity and set the stage for a 96-yard touchdown drive.

The team also celebrated the health of Sean Hutton, who was hospitalized last Wednesday following a “rare medical event” during practice. The Sooners wore special decals on their helmets in his honor during the game. Following the win, head coach Brent Venables announced that Hutton had been released from the hospital and was seen walking around the team facility.
