Oklahoma football prepares for Kentucky following Texas upset
Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables and offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle are focusing on offensive growth as the Sooners prepare to host No. 15 Kentucky this Saturday. Following a 27-24 victory over Texas, the coaching staff emphasized the need for consistency, particularly in the running game. Arbuckle noted that while the offense showed progress in the second half against the Longhorns, each game must be treated as a separate challenge.
Offensive line stability is a key focus, with Venables providing an update on left tackle Michael Fasusi. Fasusi, who has been sidelined since the season opener, is described as being ‘just about ready’ after working through injury, though he must clear final hurdles before Saturday.
The Sooners' offense is also transitioning from a stretch of facing top-tier national defenses, having recently played opponents ranked in the top 13 in total defense, including Michigan, New Mexico, Georgia, and Texas.
