Oklahoma State coach Eric Morris outlines roster overhaul, OL timeline

Eric Morris, hired in late 2025 to replace longtime head coach Mike Gundy, arrived at Oklahoma State with a dramatically reshaped roster. He added 88 new players, including 21 transfers from North Texas, leaving only 25 returning athletes from a 1‑11 season that ended the Cowboys' Big 12 winless streak dating back to November 2023.

Morris emphasized relationship‑building during the offseason and said the team must develop continuity quickly. He set a specific goal for the offensive line, aiming to have the positions “set in stone” by the end of the first scrimmage, giving the unit a solid foundation before the season opener against Tulsa on Sept. 5. The competition will involve more than 20 linemen, with notable transfers such as quarterback Drew Mestemaker, running back Caleb Hawkins and wide receiver Wyatt Young expected to shape the offense.
