Oklo launches $1 billion stock sale amid shareholder dilution
Nuclear energy company Oklo has launched an at-the-market (ATM) equity program to sell up to $1 billion in shares. This move follows several previous stock sales since the company went public via a SPAC merger on May 10, 2024.
Since its public debut, Oklo's outstanding shares have increased from approximately 122.1 million to roughly 192.3 million, representing a 58% increase. This frequent issuance has resulted in significant dilution, with early shareholders owning about 37% less of the company than they did originally.
The fundraising comes as the company faces market volatility; shares recently experienced an 8.4% drop during mid-day trading. While the capital may strengthen the balance sheet, the need for substantial funding before reaching commercial profitability remains a key risk factor for investors.
