Regional art festivals launch in Mostar, Zagreb, and Zadar

Several regional art festivals are currently underway across Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, bringing contemporary art into public spaces.

In Mostar, the 15th edition of the Street Arts Festival Mostar (SAFMo) features murals, exhibitions, and multimedia programs. The festival highlights a new generation of local artists through the ‘Mostar Mosaic – Democracy Is Fun’ project, alongside international collaborations.

In Zagreb, the 9th edition of the ‘Okolo’ festival is transforming the city center into an open-air gallery. Running from August 20 to 30, the festival presents seven spatial installations across two themes: ‘City as an Emotional Network’ and ‘Layers of Memory.’ Participating artists use textiles, photography, and murals to explore urban identity and sustainability.

In Zadar, the Monoplay Festival continues its third day with a focus on dance and digital reality. The program includes solo performances by local authors and the ‘eUA – Contemporary Resilience’ project, a European initiative supporting the Ukrainian contemporary dance scene through international exchange and residencies.
