Oksana Chusovitina qualifies for 18th World Gymnastics Championships

Uzbekistani gymnast Oksana Chusovitina has qualified for her 18th World Championships, which will be held in Rotterdam from October 17 to 25. The 51-year-old athlete secured her spot following her performance at the Asian Championships in June.

Chusovitina’s career is marked by extraordinary longevity. She has competed in eight consecutive Olympic Games, representing the Unified Team in 1992, Uzbekistan, and Germany. Her achievements include an Olympic gold medal with the Unified Team in Barcelona and a vault silver for Germany at the Beijing 2008 Games.

Throughout her career, she has earned 11 World Championship medals, including three golds, and holds a record for nine individual World Championship medals on the vault. Despite a training injury in 2024 that prevented her from qualifying for the Paris Olympics, she continues to pursue further milestones, including a potential ninth Olympic appearance at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
