Okta to Acquire Permiso Security for $200 Million to Bolster AI Agent Identity Protection
Okta Inc. announced a definitive agreement to acquire Permiso Security, an AI‑focused identity‑threat detection startup, for roughly $200 million in an almost all‑cash transaction. The deal is slated to close in the third quarter of Okta’s fiscal 2027, subject to customary conditions.
Permiso, founded by former FireEye executives Paul Nguyen and Jason Martin, offers technology that monitors human, machine and AI‑driven digital identities, flags anomalous behavior, and includes a sandbox named SandyClaw for testing AI‑agent skills before deployment. The startup has raised about $29 million to date, including an $18.5 million Series A round in April 2024.
Okta’s chief product officer Ely Kahn said the acquisition will extend the company’s identity‑security fabric, unifying real‑time threat detection with identity posture management and providing deeper visibility into non‑human identities across enterprise environments.
