Okta joins ServiceNow Control Tower Alliance to secure AI agents

Okta has joined the newly formed Control Tower Alliance, an initiative led by ServiceNow designed to help enterprises manage and secure AI agents. The alliance aims to bridge the gap between security decision-making and technical access restrictions, preventing autonomous software from engaging in risky behavior.

As a founding member, Okta will integrate its “Kill Switch” technology with ServiceNow’s risk mitigation decision layer. This mechanism is designed to block new token requests from AI agents that exceed their intended operational boundaries, though the long-term goal is to develop a cross-platform solution for revoking existing access entirely.

The alliance includes several major technology players, such as Anthropic, AWS, Cisco, NVIDIA, and OpenAI. This collaboration comes as businesses face increasing pressure to distinguish legitimate AI agents from malicious bots and to manage the reputational and financial risks associated with autonomous AI workflows.
