Okta to Acquire Permiso Security for $200M to Protect AI Agent Identities

Okta has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Permiso Security, a cloud‑native identity security platform, in an almost all‑cash transaction valued at roughly $200 million. The deal expands Okta’s identity security fabric into identity threat detection and response (ITDR), covering human, non‑human and AI agent identities across multi‑cloud environments.

Permiso brings more than 2,500 research‑driven risk signals, behavioral analytics, an automated AI identity response capability, and the SandyClaw sandbox—the first dynamic tool to detect AI supply‑chain attacks in agent skills and prompts. The acquisition addresses a widening gap: the Cloud Security Alliance reported a non‑human‑to‑human identity ratio of 144:1, with only 21 % of organizations having governance programs. "Permiso will extend Okta’s identity security fabric with proven identity threat detection and response capabilities," said Ely Kahn, Okta’s Chief Product Officer.

Permiso was co‑founded by former FireEye executives Paul Nguyen and Jason Martin, whose P0 Labs team has published research on identity‑based attack techniques and AI‑agent threats.
