Oktoberfest and Vienna Kaiser Wiesn face rising beverage and food prices

Prices for food and beverages at major German and Austrian festivals, including Oktoberfest and the Vienna Kaiser Wiesn, have seen significant increases.

At the Vienna Kaiser Wiesn, the price of a Maß of Gösser Märzen beer rose from 13.40 euros in 2023 to 16.20 euros in 2026, representing a 21 percent increase. Other beverage costs have also climbed; a 0.25-liter can of Red Bull rose from 4.90 euros to 6.00 euros over the same period, while a liter of Gasteiner mineral water increased from 7.20 euros to 9.20 euros, a nearly 28 percent rise.

Similarly, at Oktoberfest in 2026, the average price for a Maß of beer is approximately 15.61 euros. Rising costs are also affecting food items like Backhendl and Kaiserschmarrn, as well as rides and hotel accommodations, leading to observations that the event is becoming a luxury experience.
