Oktoberfest ride malfunction leaves passengers hanging upside down
On the opening weekend of the 191st Oktoberfest in Munich, a technical malfunction occurred at the Predator ride. Passengers were left hanging upside down in their gondolas for approximately five minutes.
Following the incident, several visitors, particularly younger passengers, reported symptoms of dizziness and circulatory issues. Medical personnel from Aicher Ambulanz examined the affected individuals, all of whom were able to return to the festival grounds after a brief check.
An expert inspected the ride, and the operator reported that a faulty sensor had been replaced. The attraction was subsequently cleared for operation.
Separately, medical services reported a high volume of patients on the opening day, with nearly 600 people receiving treatment for various issues, including alcohol intoxication and respiratory infections. The city has also introduced on-site vaccinations for flu and Covid-19 to mitigate the spread of illness during the event.
