Paulaner tent staff resign at Oktoberfest following alcohol dispute
Seven servers abruptly resigned from the Paulaner tent at Oktoberfest following a dispute regarding the festival's strict ban on alcohol during working hours. The incident began on a Monday evening when tent host Lorenz Stiftl reportedly caught two staff members drinking beer in a cooling room ante-chamber.
While reports differ on the intensity of the confrontation, the resignations led to a temporary staffing shortage. The shortage was mitigated by professional servers, Paulaner brewers, and three staff members loaned from the neighboring Hacker tent. Management confirmed that eight new servers were hired by Tuesday morning to fill the vacancies.
Representatives for the Munich Oktoberfest hosts stated that alcohol consumption on duty is not tolerated and that the community of tent operators worked together to ensure beer service continued without disruption to guests.
