Oktoberfest spending and gold-to-beer ratios reach new levels
The Oktoberfest in Munich is seeing significant shifts in consumer spending and commodity value ratios. On average, visitors spend approximately 92 euros per person, with total expected revenues for the festival reaching 617 million euros from 6.7 million visitors.
Data from the fund management company Incrementum highlights a record-breaking gold-to-beer ratio. Currently, one fine ounce of gold can purchase 240 liters (Maß) of beer, surpassing the previous record set in 1980. This indicates that beer has become significantly cheaper when measured against the value of gold, reflecting long-term changes in the purchasing power of the euro compared to precious metals.
