Oktoberfest to host debut event for queer women

A new event specifically for queer women and FLINTA individuals is set to debut at the Munich Oktoberfest. Scheduled for September 21 at the ‘Bräurosl’ festival tent, the event follows the traditional ‘Gay Sunday,’ which has been a staple for decades but is predominantly attended by gay men.

Organizer Sina Scherer noted that while established queer dates exist at the festival, lesbian women have lacked a visible presence as a distinct community. Scherer expressed a desire to create a space for visibility within the broader Munich society, rather than limiting queer life to specific clubs or parades.

The hosts of the Bräurosl tent, Franziska and Peter Reichert, stated that the demand for queer-focused events has grown annually. To accommodate this, they are extending the celebrations by introducing ‘Rosa Montag’ (Pink Monday) alongside the long-standing ‘Rosa Sonntag’ (Pink Sunday).
