Okuda named ‘Sorropotunero Mayor’ for San Vicente de la Barquera festivals

Visual artist Okuda has been named ‘Sorropotunero Mayor’ for the upcoming La Barquera and El Mozucu festivities in San Vicente de la Barquera. The celebrations are scheduled to take place from September 4 to September 11.

The appointment and official proclamation will occur on Friday, September 4, at the Plaza Mayor del Fuero. The festival program includes a variety of musical performances, such as a tribute to Extremoduro, concerts by Manu Tenorio and Orquesta Versus, and various community activities including a veterans' football tournament and traditional maritime processions.

Okuda, a Santander-born artist known for his use of intense colors and geometric patterns, is recognized globally for works ranging from the Fallas de Valencia to large-scale murals in Boston and Saginaw. His style, often linked to Pop Surrealism, explores themes of identity and diversity through painting, sculpture, and digital art.
