OKX secures strategic investment at $25B valuation from Circle and Ripple

Cryptocurrency exchange OKX has secured a strategic investment round at a $25 billion pre-money valuation. The funding round includes participation from Circle, Ripple, SC Ventures (the venture arm of Standard Chartered), and the quantitative trading firm Qube Research & Technologies (QRT).

This investment serves as an extension of a funding round completed in March, which saw Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, invest approximately $200 million at the same $25 billion valuation. OKX CEO Star Xu stated that the capital will support the company's evolution from a traditional crypto exchange into a comprehensive global financial technology platform, with a specific focus on tokenizing real-world assets and expanding stablecoin and payment infrastructures.

In conjunction with these financial developments, OKX has launched OKX Money, a standalone consumer application designed to bridge crypto and traditional finance. The app allows users to fund accounts with over 50 supported currencies, which are then converted into dollar-backed stablecoins such as USDG, USDC, or USDT. Key features include the ability to earn up to 10% APY on eligible USDG balances without staking or lockup periods, as well as global spending via virtual and physical Mastercard-linked cards with zero foreign exchange fees. The initial rollout of OKX Money targets markets in Latin America, Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East.
