OL Lyonnes, Lyon 1, and HCL partner to advance women's sports health

OL Lyonnes, the Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL), and Lyon 1 Université Claude Bernard have launched a first-of-its-kind two-year partnership in France dedicated to advancing women's sports health. The collaboration integrates professional high-level sports, clinical research, medical training, and healthcare.

The initiative aims to address the historical lack of scientific data regarding female athletes, noting that a significant majority of sports science research has traditionally focused on male subjects. By combining the expertise of the university, the hospital, and the professional club, the partnership seeks to better understand physiological and medical specificities, as well as mental health, to reduce injuries and improve athletic performance.

As part of the agreement, OL Lyonnes players will benefit from specialized medical pathways and identified experts at HCL, including dedicated gynecological follow-ups. The partnership was officially inaugurated at Groupama Stadium during the club's first home match of the season.
