Ola Electric and OX2 Boost Battery Storage Projects in India and Italy

Ola Electric has signed a memorandum of understanding with renewable‑energy developer Axis Energy to explore the deployment of up to 20 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) by 2032. The agreement centres on Ola’s forthcoming Mahashakti platform, slated for launch on 15 August 2026, with the potential to add as much as 5 GWh per year from 2028 to support renewable integration, industrial power supplies and grid reliability in India.

In Italy, renewable‑energy group OX2 acquired two standalone BESS projects from Hanwha Energy Europe, each rated at 100 MW/400 MWh, giving a combined capacity of 200 MW/800 MWh in the Apulia region. Construction is planned to start in the second quarter of 2027, with commissioning expected by late 2028, expanding OX2’s storage portfolio as part of its broader renewable‑energy expansion across Europe.
