Ather and Ola launch new affordable electric scooters in India
Major Indian electric vehicle manufacturers Ather Energy and Ola Electric have launched new affordable electric scooter models targeting the mass market.
Ather Energy introduced the Konarc, built on its new EL platform. The scooter features a metal body and steel unibody chassis, moving away from the brand’s traditional polymer designs. The Konarc is available in S and Z series with various battery configurations, offering IDC ranges from 100 km to 200 km. Prices for the S series start at ₹99,999. Key features include a 450W onboard charger, an Advanced Electronic Braking System, and an ‘Airwalk’ mode for easier maneuvering in tight spaces.
Ola Electric launched the S1Z, which utilizes the company’s indigenously developed LFP ‘Bharat Cell’ technology. This model is designed to provide high thermal stability and a longer cycle life. The S1Z is available in two variants: a 3.1 kWh version with a 179 km IDC range priced at ₹79,999, and a 5.1 kWh version with a 301 km IDC range priced at ₹99,999. This launch marks a significant step in Ola’s vertical integration strategy, as the company produces its own cells, motors, and software.
