Olaf Malolepski reveals past battle with colorectal cancer

German Schlager singer Olaf Malolepski, known as ‘Olaf der Flipper’, has revealed that he fought colorectal cancer in 2001. The diagnosis came following a routine check-up after he noticed blood in his stool. He underwent surgery to remove the affected part of his intestine and subsequently completed six months of chemotherapy.

Malolepski noted that he continued to perform with his band, Die Flippers, during his treatment, traveling to his hometown for chemotherapy sessions between concerts. He emphasized the importance of preventative screenings, stating that the colonoscopy saved his life.

In addition to discussing his health, the 80-year-old singer shared his personal aspirations, including a dream to take a family trip to the North Pole via a postal ship to observe polar bears.
