Olatunji Akinwande Braithwaite: Nigerian lawyer and NAP founder

Olatunji (Tunji) Akinwande Braithwaite (1933–2016) was a prominent Nigerian lawyer and the founder of the Nigeria Advance Party (NAP). Established in 1978, the NAP promoted an ideology of egalitarian humanism.

Braithwaite was recognized as a courageous advocate for the public interest, frequently representing unpopular causes and endangered individuals. His legal career included serving on the team that represented Obafemi Awolowo during a treasonable felony trial, as well as representing Afrobeat musician Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
