Olavarría, Argentina, and Bogotá, Colombia Boost Social Assistance for Thousands

In the Argentine city of Olavarría, the municipal government reinforced its Operativo Frío programme, expanding shelter, heating, housing assistance and food distribution. The initiative now supports 4,900 families, providing winter clothing, mattresses, gas canisters and operating 35 community kitchens.

In Bogotá, Colombia, the district secretariats launched an integrated strategy to identify informal daily‑rental housing. Officials mapped about 400 establishments and linked roughly 10,000 residents to health, food, social protection and formal‑employment services, prioritising families with children, women heads of household and older adults.
