Olavarría launches urban reforestation plan with tree distribution
Mayor Maximiliano Wesner led the first distribution of trees under the Urban Reforestation Plan in Olavarría. During the event held at the Municipal Forest Nursery, more than 1,600 specimens were distributed.
Of these, over 400 trees were allocated to residents registered through the ‘Mi Olavarría’ platform to address urban greenery needs. The plan aims to distribute a total of 1,000 trees to various city sectors. Additionally, more than 1,200 specimens were provided to local rural producers as part of the Forestry Activity Incentive Plan (PIAF), in coordination with the Ministry of Agrarian Development of the Province of Buenos Aires and the Olavarría Agrarian Cooperative.
To ensure the program's sustainability, the municipality is utilizing its municipal nursery, which currently has approximately 7,000 seedlings in growth. Other production sites include the ‘Celina’ Native Plant Nursery, a greenhouse at the Directorate of Women, Gender and Diversity Policies, and productive units located in the Sierra Chica prisons.
