Olavarría Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Child Sexual Abuse

A 43‑year‑old former prison guard from Olavarría was sentenced by the Tribunal Oral en lo Criminal N° 1 of Azul to ten years in prison for aggravated promotion of minors. The court found him guilty of repeatedly forcing his 10‑year‑old son to engage in sexual activities, view pornographic material and endure threats directed at both the child and his mother between 2 October 2017 and 14 February 2018. Judge Martín Céspedes highlighted the credibility of the victim’s testimony, now 18, and ordered the defendant to maintain a current address, report monthly to police and have no contact with the victim. The convicted man entered the trial in liberty and will remain free pending a possible appeal to the provincial Court of Cassation.

The sentencing follows a broader investigation launched in 2018 after a complaint by the accused’s ex‑wife, with prosecutors and psychologists contributing to the case.
