Olavarría officials probe appointment of Gabriel León

The La Libertad Avanza council bloc in Olavarría has filed a formal request for information regarding the appointment of Gabriel Marcelo León as the new Subsecretary of Management and Control of Public Works. The move follows Mayor Maximiliano Wesner’s decision to appoint León, who is the managing partner of Obras Civiles Lecon SRL.

Records indicate that between 2024 and July 2026, Lecon SRL invoiced approximately 1.16 billion pesos and collected over 1.004 billion pesos from the municipality. The council seeks to clarify the relationship between León’s business interests and his new role, which involves supervising infrastructure works and inspecting contracting companies.

Municipal sources stated that Lecon SRL was removed from the provider registry once the partnership with the local government was formalized to avoid incompatibilities.
