Olavinlinna to host immersive Eurydike theater production

The Olavinlinna castle will host the premiere of an immersive theater production titled ‘Eurydike (and Orpheus)’ starting October 22, 2026. The performance reimagines the classical Greek myth from Eurydike’s perspective rather than Orpheus’s.

Combining theater, contemporary circus, music, and performance art, the production lacks a traditional seating area. Instead, the audience is encouraged to move freely through the historical castle spaces at their own pace, creating a personalized sensory experience.

The project is a collaboration of young professionals in theater and circus arts. The concept and script were created by Emma Castrén and Martta Pesonen, with Pesonen also serving as director. The musical score is composed by Leevi Räsänen. Some performances will also offer a wedding dinner option in the castle’s King’s Hall.
