Old Bridge in Mostar Marks 22nd Anniversary with Documentary Premiere and Red Bull Cliff Diving
On July 23, 2004 the restored Old Bridge (Stari most) in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, was reopened 22 years after its destruction during the 1993 war. The bridge, originally built in 1566, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a symbol of post‑war reconciliation.
To celebrate the anniversary, a documentary titled “Najdublji skok” (The Deepest Jump) will premiere on July 29 under the bridge. The film links the city’s 460‑year tradition of traditional bridge jumps with the modern Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, which is holding its 10th edition in Mostar. It features local legends such as Emir Balić and international jumpers like Orlando Duque and Rhiannan Iffland. Director Lejla Zvizdić says the story is about “the people, the tradition, and the willingness to embrace something new without abandoning roots.”
