Old Mission Church converted into modern home by retired couple
A retired couple in England has successfully converted a dilapidated 160-year-old church into a modern residence. Geoff Bolam, a 70-year-old designer, and his wife purchased the Old Mission Church in Paxford, located in the Cotswolds region of Gloucestershire, at an auction in 2018 for £175,000.
The building, which originally opened in 1866 as a school before serving as a place of worship, was in a state of disrepair before the renovation. Bolam invested £370,000 into the restructuring process, utilizing his professional design experience to transform the space.
The finished home features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a modern kitchen, and a mezzanine bedroom, while retaining Victorian details and an impressive nave. The property is now valued at approximately £700,000.
