German Volunteer Fire Brigades Celebrate Summer with Local Festivals
Volunteer fire brigades across Germany are hosting a series of summer events. The Freiwillige Feuerwehr Bad Kreuznach’s West district will hold a three‑day summer festival in Kuna Park, featuring a disco evening, family brunch and recruitment drives for new members. The fire brigade in Hannover‑Linden presented its annual report and elected new board members at its supporters’ association meeting. In Friedelshausen, the local Förderverein organized a Lindenfest with historical talks, a DJ party and family activities.
The 25th International Youth Fire Brigade Competition took place in Šumperk, Czech Republic, with 22 nations and 56 groups, including four Austrian teams defending their title. Participants competed in obstacle and relay races and emphasized cross‑border networking.
Other community celebrations highlighted the season: Schweinfurt’s City‑Flohmarkt “Rama Dama” turned the pedestrian zone into a market with live music; Bad Soden‑Salmünster’s historic Altstadt hosted a festive street fair with music, food and traditional games; and several towns such as Leutkirch, Griesheim, and Altenstadt offered children’s workshops, circus training and holiday programs.
