Oldham Roughyeds secure player extensions and relaunch junior club

Championship rugby league club Oldham have confirmed contract extensions for two young players, Valu Tane Bentley and Finlay Irwin, securing their involvement through the 2027 season. Both players are the sons of former Roughyeds players. Bentley, a back-rower who previously played for Leigh Leopards reserves, and Irwin, a product of the Wigan and Warrington academies, are part of a strategic effort by head coach Alan Kilshaw to lower the squad's average age.

In community news, the club is relaunching Roary’s Pride, a junior members club originally established in 2019. The initiative, which was paused during the Covid pandemic, aims to connect younger supporters with the club through educational experiences and community events. The program will operate under the Oldham Rugby League Foundation and is being led by volunteers and club officials to inspire the next generation of fans.
