Ole Miss coach Pete Golding supports 24-team playoff expansion

Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding expressed support for the expansion of the College Football Playoff to a 24-team format, stating it would be “really healthy for college football.” Golding noted that with the transition to a nine-game SEC model, there were concerns regarding the potential watering down of the regular season, but he believes the expansion addresses these issues.

Ahead of a pivotal matchup against No. 19 Texas, Golding also addressed defensive improvements following a loss to Florida. He emphasized that recent successes stemmed from better attention to detail and the elimination of execution errors rather than a simplification of defensive schemes. He noted that the coaching staff focused on identifying what the team was doing well and removing elements that players were unable to execute effectively.
