Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding disclosed at SEC Media Days that he used a negative recruiting pitch to persuade quarterback Trinidad Chambliss to stay at the university after former coach Lane Kiffin departed for LSU. The strategy succeeded, and Chambliss is set to be the Rebels' starting quarterback for the 2026 season.

Chambliss, who led Ole Miss to a College Football Playoff run last year, says he is focused on winning a national championship. Golding has bolstered the roster through the transfer portal, adding depth at running back with Makhi Frazier, JT Lindsey and Joshua Dye, and reinforcing the defensive line with five new players. The coaching staff aims to keep players fresh for the later stages of games and build a culture of teamwork to achieve the title goal.
