Texas Longhorns defeat Ole Miss 34-27 in dramatic SEC matchup

No. 19 Texas secured a hard-fought 34-27 victory over No. 7 Ole Miss at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Despite holding a commanding 24-3 halftime lead, the Longhorns struggled in the second half, allowing the Rebels to erase the deficit and tie the game.

Quarterback Arch Manning played a pivotal role, recording one passing touchdown and two rushing touchdowns, including a decisive one-yard score following a fake handoff in the fourth quarter. Running back Raleek Brown also contributed significantly with 157 rushing yards. Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss led a comeback attempt with two touchdown passes, but his final ‘Hail Mary’ attempt was intercepted by Texas defensive back Jelani McDonald to seal the win.

The victory helps Texas (5-2) avoid a third consecutive loss and keeps their College Football Playoff aspirations alive, while the loss drops Ole Miss to No. 12 in the updated AP Top 25 rankings.
