Ole Miss Rebels target dominant rushing attack in 2026 season

The Ole Miss Rebels enter the 2026 college football season under new head coach Pete Golding, who previously served as the team’s defensive coordinator and led the Rebels to two playoff victories after Lane Kiffin departed for LSU. The program returns star running back Kewan Lacy, who set a school record in 2025 with 1,567 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns on 306 carries, and will be supported by transfer running back Makhi Frazier to reduce his workload. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who contributed 527 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025, remains a key component of the offense. Additional depth arrives with transfer lineman Carius Curne from LSU. Coaches expect the reinforced ground game to give Ole Miss a competitive edge against SEC opponents throughout the year.

The team also retains several offensive linemen and aims to balance the rushing attack while maintaining the high-powered offense that propelled the Rebels deep into the College Football Playoff last season.
