Ole Miss to honor Archie Manning with campus statue

The University of Mississippi Athletics Department has announced that football legend Archie Manning will be honored with a statue on the Ole Miss campus. The monument will be located outside of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, specifically south of the stadium and north of the Olivia and Archie Manning Athletics Performance Center.

In collaboration with sculptor Dr. Kim Sessums, the university plans to surround the area with campus roads featuring speed signs that honor both Archie and Eli Manning. Manning, a former starting quarterback for the Rebels from 1968 to 1970, was a two-time All-SEC selection and finished third in the 1970 Heisman Trophy voting.

Beyond his collegiate success, Manning had a distinguished professional career, including 11 seasons with the New Orleans Saints and being named the NFC Player of the Year in 1978. The university has previously honored the Manning family through the naming of the Olivia and Archie Manning Athletics Performance Center and the designation of “Manning Way” on campus.
