Oleander care tips for September terrace decoration

In September, gardeners can continue to decorate terraces using potted oleander (Nerium oleander). To ensure survival through the winter, it is recommended to select hardy varieties such as the 'Villa Romaine' cultivar, which can withstand temperatures between −12 and −15 °C in well-drained, protected soil.

For successful cultivation in pots, plants require 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight, preferably on south or southwest-facing terraces near heat-reflecting walls. Using containers with a diameter of at least 40 to 50 cm helps provide sufficient soil volume to nourish the plant and buffer against temperature fluctuations. In colder regions, it is advised to use pots that can be easily moved to frost-free shelters.
