OLED technology trends and Samsung S90H display features

OLED television technology continues to evolve, offering high contrast and deep blacks, though users face considerations regarding panel longevity and screen performance in different environments.

The Samsung S90H utilizes a WOLED panel that features a Glare Free matte coating. This design choice effectively disperses reflections, making the display more suitable for bright rooms compared to traditional glossy OLEDs, albeit with a slightly softer image character. In dark settings, the model maintains high performance, with brightness levels exceeding 1,500 nits in peak highlights.

Regarding durability, the risk of burn-in—permanent image retention caused by static elements like channel logos or video game interfaces—remains a technical characteristic of OLED pixels. However, modern manufacturers have implemented various automated mitigation technologies, including pixel shifting, automatic brightness adjustment for static objects, and panel refreshing procedures to minimize these risks during normal use.
